Objectives

The Degree in Nursing aims to produce professionals with extensive knowledge of nursing and health sciences, human and social sciences, and capable of providing responses to the health needs and expectations of individuals, families, groups and the community.

Accordingly, these students should develop skills for applying the appropriate procedures in healthcare and clinical guidelines. They should also develop positive relationships with the people they care for, using the appropriate scientific methodology and tools in their actions, with a critical and reflexive attitude.

During their training, they should acquire the following competences:

The capacity for analysis and synthesis, applying their knowledge and abilities to real practice; planning and managing time and activities; oral and written communication, and using computers; participation in research of interest for continuous learning and improvement; the ability to adapt to new contexts and situations; making critical decisions for problem-solving; the ability to work in a team and communication skills with both colleagues and patients, taking into account diversity and variety in culture and customs; autonomy and creativity, while remaining committed to quality and ethics.

Student profile

Future nurses should have a vocation, with skills in personal relations, communication and teamwork, and a positive attitude towards their profession, scientific interest, creativity and constructive criticism.

Professional opportunities and officially regulated professions

Graduates in Nursing can work professionally in public or private hospitals, specialist centres and primary care centres, as well as other institutions providing healthcare: homes for the elderly, care for disabled people, health spas, schools, prisons, etc.

They may also become specialist nurses are taking the Spanish EIR examination after a 2-year internship in order to become a mental health nurse, midwife, paediatric nurse, geriatric nurse, labour nurse, surgical care nurse, family nurse or community nurse.

There are other opportunities in teaching, research and nursing management.
