Francisco Javier de Lucio Cazaña (14/08/1959)
Doctor en Farmacia y Catedrático de Fisiología en la Universidad de Alcalá (Depto. Biología de Sistemas). 5 sexenios de investigación (último en Diciembre de 2017). Su trayectoria académica se ha centrado en aspectos diferentes de la vida universitaria como la colaboración con la Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación (ANECA) o las contribuciones en su Universidad como Claustral, Secretario de la Comisión de Seguridad e Higiene, Delegado de Prevención, Secretario de Departamento o Vicedecano de Docencia de la Facultad de Farmacia. Su investigación –enriquecida por 5 años de estancia en Oxford, Londres y San Diego- se ha dirigido fundamentalmente al campo de la inflamación en el riñón y la próstata, aunque también ha trabajado en otros campos como la Medicina Tradicional China (en el marco de un proyecto en cooperación con China financiado por la Unión Europea).
Líneas de investigación: Prostaglandina E2 intracelular en la fisiología y patología del túbulo proximal y como factor protumoral en neoplasias benignas y malignas de próstata.
Equipamiento: laboratorio equipado para cultivo celular (estufas, campanas y microscopio) y expresión de proteínas (WB), PCR, electroforesis y centrífugas. Histología e Inmunohistoquímica: micrótomo, equipamiento para inclusión de tejidos. Equipamiento para estudios de animales in vivo, tensiómetro para roedores. Disponibilidad y acceso a animalario experimental (en la misma planta).

Fisiopatología de los sistemas cardiovascular, renal y nervioso - Physiopathology of the cardiovascular, renal and nervous systems
- Estudio del papel de la quinasa ligada a integrinas (ILK) en las enfermedades cardiovasculares con el objetivo final de validar su potencial terapéutico en enfermedad valvular aórtica.
- Identificación de predictores objetivos de dolor en modelos animales para encontrar biomarcadores mediante métodos no invasivos que pudieran ser extrapolados en la práctica clínica.
- Mecanismos de la lesión por hipoxia de las células proximales tubulares renales, papel de las vesículas extracelulares generadas por estas células como mediadores de la lesión tubular
- Papel de las fibras aferentes primarias nociceptivas durante procesos de dolor crónico: alteraciones en la expresión de canales iónicos que alteran la excitabilidad de los nociceptores y alteraciones en la expresión de factores de transcripción implicados en procesos de regeneración.
- Caracterización de los daños renales y cardiovasculares producido por el xenoestrógeno ambiental Bisfenol-A (BFA) estudiando: Nefropatía (podocitopatía) y cardiomiopatía inducida por BFA, mediante estudios básicos experimentales y traslacionales.
- Determinación de la contribución de las enzimas proteolíticas (MMPs, sistema ubiquitin-proteasoma y autofagia, UPR) al remodelado cardiaco tras infarto en modelos animales de IAM y modelos de hipertrofia cardiaca, así como identificación de nuevos marcadores de detección temprana de estas patologías regulados por el sistema del óxido nítrico o proteínas de la matriz extracelular vascular.
- Identificación de biomarcadores de fracaso renal agudo (FRA): Caracterización de la proteína relacionada a la parathormona (PTHrP) como un biomarcador urinario de FRA
- Identificación de los determinantes moleculares implicados en el desarrollo, progresión y ruptura de placas de ateroma y el desarrollo de nuevas herramientas de diagnóstico y tratamiento.
- Papel del transportador de prostaglandinas en patología proliferativa prostática
