Goals and competencies

The goals of this Master's degree are in line with the stipulates of the Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (MECES) and ensure the achievement of the basic competencies required to obtain a master's degree, following article 3.3, Appendix I of R.D. 1393/2007.

Fulfilment of the goals means students have achieved competencies that must be consistent with the fundamental rights of equality between men and women, with the principles of equal opportunities and universal accessibility for the disabled, and with the values proper to a democratic and peace-loving culture.

Micro-Master`s Degrees

This Master's offers any student the possibility to study a selection of subjects compounding a Postgraduate Short Course, which will enable the student, if requested at the end of the course, to obtain an Own Studies Degree title from the University of Alcalá.

After finishing the subjects the student could apply, paying the corresponding fees, for a Certificate of the Postgraduate Short Course. Besides, if the student wants to complete the Master's in the future, the subjects finished in the Postgraduate Short Course will automatically be incorporated into the student's academic record at no cost.

Pre-registration and matriculation of these Postgraduate Short Courses will follow the usual procedure of pre-registration and matriculation.

Total number of places available: 25

A minimum of 20 students are required to teach the Master's programme.


Reserved places: 5% for students with a certified disability of 33% or more.

Specific admission conditions

1.The main entry profile would be:
Students holding a degree title whith subjects related to analysis and design of telecommunication networks, analysis and design of operating systems, analysis and design of software, and provision of telematic services, basically:

  • Degree in Telematics Engineering.
  • Degree in Computer Science Engineering.
  • Degree in Computer Engineering.
  • Degree in Information Systems.
  • Degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering.
  • Degree in Telecommunication Technologies Engineering.
  • Degree in Electronic Communications Engineering.
  • Equivalent degree titles from the previous system (Computer Science Engineers and Technical Computer Science Engineers from the different branches, Telecommunication Engineers and Technical Telecommunication Engineers from the different branches).
  • Equivalent degrees from other universities under different names.


2.Secondary entry profile:
Students holding a degree title partially related, that is, degrees in which the subjects of the main profile are taught in a non-exhaustive manner. Degree titles whose main or secondary education codes are included in:

  • Area codes related to "Engineering, Industry and Construction", except for those already included in the main profile.
  • Area codes related to "Sciences", except for those already included in the main profile.

 

Prerequisites defined for admission to the study are:

  1. Being capable of programming in a high level language
  2. To know the fundamental concepts of computer technology and architecture, including assembly languages.
  3. To know the basis of cryptography and network and system security.
  4. To know the relational databases and their languages.
  5. To know the basis of computer networks and TCP/IP protocols, in addition to having knowledge of the main applications, especially the basic operation of a Web application.
  6. To know the basis of the structure of an operating system and particularly know the operating systems based on Linux and Windows.

 

Admission criteria

Candidates' degrees will be assessed individually to determine the training complements required to ensure that the programme is used properly. 

The student's previous studies academic record and curriculum vitae will be required for admission.

The assessment criterion of achievements will have as a fundamental element the academic record in the previous studies, including, if necessary, a personal interview.

Admission to the Master's is the task of the departments responsible for the Master's (Automation and Computer Science), which will assess the student's profile through the Master's Academic Committee, which will have the following composition: the director of the Master's and a professor representing each of the proposed subjects.
